there is the answer and the conspiracy answer.
the conspiracy answer is that the government can’t make money off of it.
the real reason is that marijuana gives an altered state of mind that makes you a danger to yourself and others. And marijuana is very difficult to partake in with out affecting others in some way.

a truck driver is hauling down a road and he is smoking as doing so. what do you prefer him to be smoking? tobacco or pot?
