Why Doesn’t the Government Legalize Ecstasy, or MDMA?

Question by Jordan: Why doesn’t the government legalize ecstasy, or MDMA?
There is no evidence to prove ecstasy causes long-term damage to the brain. (look up “ecstasy rising” on youtube and watch the five videos. They are an unbiased analysis and documentary on the history and affects of ecstasy featuring Peter Jennings. It proves there is no evidence of long term damage from ecstasy.)

If “E” was legalized, and the government began to control (like what happened earlier in our country’s history with alcohol), than ecstasy produced in pharmacies would be pure and safer, and they would take many drug dealers out of the business.

It is very probable that ecstasy produced now contains ALOT of other dangerous drugs like speed and heroin since it is created by forty year old red necks in the basements of their houses.

So my question is why isn’t our government legalizing this drug like they did alcohol?
I guarantee that your “distant relative” did not just die from ecstasy alone. And if they did, the pills they had must have contained speed in them or other drugs, drugs that actually do kill…

And lets make one thing clear, you can die from to much of anything, ANYTHING. To much alcohol, food, water, anything…
I am going to take guess and say that more people die from eating to much, (dieing from poor nutrition) than all drugs combined.

All I’m trying to say is that if the government legalizes ecstasy and perhaps other drugs like marijuana, they could earn some SERIOUS tax dollars off those…And if the government did control the production, than these pills would be pure…Most pills don’t even contain 80% mdma.

well one of my distant relatives was addicted to ecstasy and she had holes in her brain and died so I don’t know who told you that there’s no effect on the brain.

I don’t know that much about ecstasy.

But M.D.M.A. is made from industrial solvents and other very unhealthy things….

It could not be marketed legally because of U.S.D.A. safety standards.

Perhaps if the Economy totally tanks they will legalize it all for the tax revenue. That’s what finished Prohibition…The Great Depression.
