Why Do People Take Percocet as a Recreational Drug? How Does It Make You Feel?

Question by Marissa C: why do people take percocet as a recreational drug? How does it make you feel?
I know people abuse percocet (oxycodone) but why? what is the feeling you get from this drug that makes people abuse it? Im taking it right now because i just had surgery but all it does is make me tired, i cant imagine why you would want to take this drug for fun. Do you have to take a lot to get the effect that drug abusers get? How many pills do you usually take to “abuse” it. Because i don’t feel euphoric or “out of it” or anything i just feel tired.

The problem is not surgery, it is you

Percocet really isn’t all that abusable. It is a type of opiate, like heroin, but it differs in certain ways that make it feel less “fun.” The medication Percocet in particular is not really subject to abuse because it is a combination pill of oxycodone and acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is Tylenol, which is toxic to your liver. To take enough Percocet to get high would require you to take a toxic amount of acetaminophen. Even so, the oxycodone part of Percocet might make you high but it will also make you nauseated, so it’s not all that fun to abuse.

If you want to abuse drugs, I really recommend you don’t do it with Percocet. If you take a lot of this medication, you risk destroying your liver from all the Tylenol that’s in it. I’m not just saying this because I’m anti-drug or something. Percocent just isn’t a very good medication to get high on.
