What Were the Tiny Paper Explosives That the Good Humor Ice Cream Driver Used to Sell?

Question by Crane: What were the tiny paper explosives that the Good Humor ice cream driver used to sell?
“Explosives” might be too strong a word. You threw them on the ground, and they made a loud “crack” or “pop.” I used to buy them in the mid-late eighties. Any information you would be appreciated.
