What Type of Autism Do I Have?
Question by Cassidy: What type of Autism do I have?
Okay, so my mom took me to do a test and all, and she said I have Autism Spectrum Disorder, something a little more mild than Asperger’s Syndrome, but she didn’t specifically tell me what I have. Here are some symptoms:
Unlike most Autistic’s, I understand sarcasm and sometimes use it. But if somebody tells a joke and doesn’t use a tone of voice I recognize, I may not know the person is joking.
I have very long-winded, one-sided conversations when talking about something I like.
I have normal hobbies, but rather weird interests, I am part of fandoms that ignorant people think only Autistic people are a part of. (My Little Pony, Homestuck, ECT). I also have a huge interest in canines, mainly domesticated ones, and prehistoric creators. I release my interest by writing about them and animating them.
I’m VERY shy at first, I have trouble asking an adult for help, and I can barely walk up to a kid online, and can barely enter by two bits when others are talking.. Though, I am very approachable, and will gladly accept you as a friend right away (Yes, I’m very naive and can’t say ‘no’).
I was a late bloomer, I was around a year and a half when I started talking, which was late for my family (Except for one of my bros, who also has Autism).
I’m sure could’ve fit in the ‘interest’ section, but I have weird obsession on disorders, especially childhood ones, also inserted into fictional characters in my story. AND medical shows and Discovery/TLC like shows. Like, “My strange Addiction”, “Untold Stories of the ER”, “Mystery Diagnosis”, “Extraordinary People”, “Locked up Abroad”, ECT. Other than that I watch dumb comedies.
As for movements…my God…First, I have this weird tic-like movement I do when I feel a chill. My head tips to the side and my right shoulder shrugs. I’ve been doing it a lot more lately. I bite my index fingers a lot, I had a bad cut on one of them that just closed and another cut is developing on the other one. I’ll also bite my thumb and pull it. I’ll also crack my knuckles and such. I do a lot of self-destructing things.
Well, that’s it…oh and despite the fact that I’m super shy, I have a lot of self-confidence…a little too much pride…

High functioning if anything at all. My uncle was diagnosed with autism as kid but he is very high functioning and very friendly to everyone, he’s a bit of a goof but very successful in his career. Your description reminded me of him.
