I’ve Been Cracking My Back and Neck for About a Year, Could I Have Caused Any Damage?
Question by Dan: I’ve been cracking my back and neck for about a year, Could I have caused any damage?
I’m 15 years old, I’m overweight, and now I have an “addiction” of cracking the lower and upper parts of my back, and neck. Could this affect my height? and could I get scoliosis?

You don’t have an addiction, you have a bad habit, of which you have control over. It’s a myth that cracking bones will cause weakening of the joints, arthritis, or anything else. No it won’t affect you negatively as long as you aren’t using dangerous methods to crack your back. Like don’t use serious force to try to crack your neck.
But if you don’t like the habit, stop doing it.

Won’t affect your height but not something you should do, as it can increase inflammation in the joints and cause you problems later in life. Arthritis is essentially an inflammation of the joints, and you could set yourself up for arthritis much later down the road. So stop doing that.
