Question by Paul G: is “sugar cane alcohol” the same as rum?
today i was at the supermarket and walked over to the clearance rack near the liquour isle and saw several bottles of “sugar cane alcohol” (several from mexico some from the carribean) they where 99 proof they where highly marked down (from 30 dollars to 5)… i thought about buying a bottle. but i didnt know what the bottle contained (i figure most people dont which is why its on clearance) .. so i didnt….

is “sugar cane alcohol” the same as rum?

yes it is. Rum is made from three sugar sources cane, beet, and molasses. Some vodkas use cane sugar as well. But when people talk of “sugar cane alcohol” thay are talking about rum.

The fact that is is from Carribean is a good hint too.
