No, Adderall has no methamphetamine in it.
Adderall is a mixture of four different amphetamine salts:
-dextro-amphetamine saccharate
-dextro-amphetamine sulfate
-amphetamine asparatate
-amphetamine sulfate
The manufacturer claims that these salts are metabolized at different rates by the body, resulting in a “smoother” onset of action.
Meth-amphetamine is processed by the body much more rapidly than amphetamine, or dextroamphetamine; this is why “meth” is so addictive. It produces an extremely rapid “boom-and-bust curve”, compelling the abuser to seek another dose, and ultimately making them physically and psychologically dependent.
Pretty much all “hard” drugs, like heroin, “crack” cocaine, meth, and nicotine, will produce that rapid “spike” in their blood concentration, followed by a “crash.” The biggest difference with nicotine, is that if you take too much, the side effects get nasty, and you get very sick. So nicotine tends to be “self limiting”
