Question by Anthony S: Is a book worth anymore if the dust jacket is different than the normal one?
I have a book called “Step on a Crack” that has a dust jacket that is out of the norm. The names on the dust cover (James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge) normally in Gold have been missed on this dust jacket. Its like the color passed over this dust jacket when it was produced. Thanks for the help!

Probably not … Mine isnt gold either. It seems like a common issue – perhaps it was done that way for certain stores like discount stores or something. I doubt it has any additional value. Also its a very new book and there are millions in circulation.Pax – C

Yes, a book MAY be worth more if the dust jacket is different from normal. Variations in printing can affect book re-sale price. But it also depends on whether it’s a first edition, how old it is, are there a whole batch that have the names missed, how popular is the author, etc., etc. Many factors go into a book’s “worth” on the general market. Basically the bottom line is: What’s the demand. If there’s no demand, it doesn’t matter WHAT you’ve got.
Since that was published in Feb. ’07 (I’m assuming) it may be a first edition. It may be worth holding onto for your child or grandchild – or some future date.
