I Think My Dad Is on Withdrawal From His Drugs?

Question by C Erin D: I think my dad is on withdrawal from his drugs?
So… I know my dad uses. & I know that him and my mom separated from him doing meth constantly when I was about three.. I’m sixteen now. & he’s been on it the years before I was born, (1993). He stays up all night almost every night. It’s strange. Like i’ll wake up at like 545 in the morning sometimes if I have to go to the bathroom, and he’ll still be awake. sometimes he’s still up at 6. It’s crazy. Than he has off on sundays and mondays. & he’ll just sleep forEVER. I’ll come home from school and he’ll be sick on the couch… still didn’t get up from when he went to sleep. But than come tuesday..he’ll go back to work and be up all night again. Is this symptoms of still being on meth? I hear him and his girlfriend argue all the time, and he yells at her for her “cocaine abuse” so thats obviously how i found out shes on coke. Then she screams at him about his “blueberries” and to call glenn, (which is his drug dealer) to “calm him down”. & i looked that up.. their valiums and they come in like perscription bottles.. there’s a ton in my bathroom cabinet. He’s been sick the past couple of days.. like throwing up, can’t do anything himself, saying he thinks hes gunna die and stuff… crying… my aunts thought it was swine flu. But him and his girlfriend were arguing again tonight, and she was like, “YOUR SICK BECAYSE YOUR ON YOUR WITHDRAWAL FROM YOUR BLUEBERRIES FROM GLENN..PLAYING THIS I HAVE THE FLU BULL****, GUESS YOU NEED TO CALL GLENN AGAIN.” I don’t really know the symptoms of withdrawal from meth or valiums.. someone wanna help me out here?

Honey, where is your mom? Do you have someone else you can go stay with, grandparents or an aunt or anyone?

Your dad and his girlfriend are both using, and you need to get out of there. Talk to your counselor at school about this, OK?

Oh my gosh. This is horrible to read! Do you have another family member you can live with right now? Your dad is terribly sick, and in no way able to take care of you. This is not safe for you to be around, and I wish that was enough of a reason for him to clean up his act! Is your mother able to come get you? Your dad belongs in a hospital where he can be detoxed from these drugs, and it should NOT be something you have to worry about the type of meds and which he’s having withdrawal from. You can talk to a counselor at school or somebody to take you out of this awful environment. I am amazed you are still taking care of yourself and getting yourself to school. I feel angry for you your father isn’t taking care of his responsibilities, and I don’t understand how if your mother divorced him for using drugs you ended up living with him. He is your parent, but your roles are reversed here like you are his parent. That’s just wrong. Hugs for you, with the hopes you find some other living arrangement really soon.
