I Have Severe OCD, What Do I Do About It?

Question by American_idiot13: i have severe OCD, what do i do about it?
no one knows i have it, but i do….believe me! i have like all the symptoms. i always knew there had to be a name to all the re-counting stuff, rearranging stuff, doing something til it feels “right”, seeing HORRIBLE pictures in my head, ETC. but i found out mine is severe. what should i do?? im only 13. ive researched OCD and from what i have seen, there is no cure. but i CANT control it! XO what can i do about it? should i tell someone??

I myself have had OCD for over 15 years, as a young teen mine was very severe so i got counseling for it. so tell ur parents so u can get help.it was so bad that everything i did took 3x longer than everyone else. There is no cure but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, mine is NOWHERE near as bad as it was when i was ur age. so it will get better with help and time 🙂

OCD is tough because it piggybacks on our normal setup for doing things. As a kid, I found myself counting the cracks in the sidewalk as I walk, and the way to overcome it is to control my attention so that I look at different things–not the sidewalk . Try putting this into your search engine: Vittoz Method.
You have a big edge. You’re at a good age to conquer it before it gets set in at about 21. Young people can drop habits before they get into the “addiction” stage.
