How to Let Go When Singing Higher Notes?

Question by Anonymous: How to let go when singing higher notes?
What exactly does it mean when others say the higher you sing, the more you let go? How would I do that without either “pushing” air out or without my voice cracking when I’m too relaxed. Because when I try to let go one of the two always happens. When I push too much air out I sound like I’m singing roughly but when I’m too calm, my voice just cracks.

How, specifically, do I let go?

When going from a low to a high note, let out your breath and let the word[s] flow through the breath.
Get into the higher register in your voice.

So, ‘let go’? Make it sound breathy, by letting out a breath and singing at the same time.
