How Reliable Are Cracked’s Articles?
Question by {? ???? ? ??? ????? ???????.} [sic]: How reliable are Cracked’s articles?
Now, I realize it’s first and foremost a comedy website. But many of the articles discuss rather scientific topics, and they sound pretty legitimate. How well do the writers actually research the “facts” they put into their writing, and can these “facts” be trusted?
Note: I put the word “facts” in quotation marks because I’m unsure at this point of their accuracy. I’m not ranting or claiming that they aren’t, indeed, facts.

It’s like reading the New York Times.

You have to know when they are cracking a joke.
Like this example, taken from one of their articles:
“Famous news talking guy Tim Russert tells a charming story about his father, in his book Big Russ and Me (the title referring to his on-and-off romance with actor Russell Crowe).”

That, of course, is a joke. Big Russ refers to Tim Russert’s dad.
Someone said that Wikipedia is seems to be their source often, so a second source would be good. 🙂
Also, ANYONE can write for them, so…
Someone was talking about an article that they had read on Cracked:
“it was precisely that “weapons you cannot hide from” article that made me curse angrily and vow never to visit again. In particular, the bullets that “can turn corners” can do no such thing. They’re steerable to produce extreme precision, but not nearly to the degree described in Cracked’s article.”

So, it’s apparently real news with a lot of humor & the facts need to be double-checked elsewhere.
