Debate: What Do You Think of Cannabis, Weed, Ganja, Grass, Green.?
Question by Andrew: Debate: What do you think of Cannabis, Weed, Ganja, Grass, Green.?
Debate on the illegality and prohibition of cannabis. What do you believe are the truths on it. Its harms and it’s benefits.
Some interesting things said, ‘?•?•?’ You’re statistics on the addictiveness of cannabis and it’s relation to opiates, I’d very much like to know the source as these are things I’ve not heard before. I do agree with you for the most part excluding those facts mentioned that I am unsure of. As for the psychological addiction I’d have to disagree on the basis of things such as ‘Gaming addiction’. Though I could understand saying cannabis does have some physical addictions as it is putting things into your body. When it comes to the affects of quitting I believe that one of the main things to remember about cannabis is that it effects everyone differently and so there is no exact way to determine the effect it will have on each person. Just as another input I would say if it was legalised and regulated 18 would be the appropriate age in my opinion but I have heard people say that particularly under the age of 15 is where the real danger is.

The illegality has nothing to do with the health effects. It has to do with money because the mafia lobby Congress to keep it illegal so they can rake in the profits. Period.

The #1 thing people need to understand is that BOTH ENDS OF THE ARGUMENT ARE WRONG.
1. The “Anti’s”
Weed isn’t more dangerous that crack. Weed isn’t instantly addictive to all that smoke it. Weed isn’t a “Gateway Drug”, that would be Alcohol and Tobacco, statistically. It doesn’t destroy your brain.
2. The “Legalizers”.
Weed DOES cause brain damage if children who’s brains are not finished developing use it more than once and a while. Once the brain is done developing at about the age of 18, weed only causes cognitive difficulty if they use it ALL THE TIME. Marijuana IS ADDICTIVE to approximately 9% of the 30% of the Human Species that was BORN with the genetics for addiction. Meaning, 100% of that group can get hooked on opiates, but only 9% can get addicted to weed. There is NO SUCH THING as a “Psychological Addiction”. Addiction is based on DOCUMENTED BRAIN BIOLOGY and for those that do have the genetics and brain biology to get hooked on weed, that addiction is profound because the weed reacts in the weed addicts brain on the opoide receptors. The first 3 months of marijuana abstinence is full of sleep disturbances, mood disturbances, and random suicidality unrelated to the aforementioned mood disturbances. Weed Detox and Addiction Treatment is quite like Opiate Addiction Treatment. You don’t get the horrific withdrawal and pain that opiate addicts get, but the after effects such as the PROFOUND feeling of loss, as if you just had a parent die, is shared.
BOTH ends negate the opinions of those in the middle of the argument… Those of us that keep up on the medical literature on the topic of what cannabinoids do to body, brain, and culture.
It isn’t going to kill children and lead them to giving handy-j’s for crack money and it isn’t “harmless” and like taking a multi vitamin.
It needs to be decriminalized and minimally regulated.
The ages of 18 and 21 aren’t just pulled out of the government’s bum just to piss off teenyboppers. Those are the ages when physical and basic personality FINISH DEVELOPING.
Kids under 18 should smoke weed because it causes brain damage when used more than a few times a month… KIDS shouldn’t be able to just go in to the store and buy weed same way that a 15 year old shouldn’t be able to go out and buy a bottle Jack Daniels.
But it should also not be a crime for those over the age of physical development to be allowed to have responsible use.
