Strong Catholics: Help Me Please?

Question by timmy: Strong Catholics: help me please?
Someone answered my question with this response, and it really got me thinking:

“It depends on what you are doing. Since I don’t know what you are doing, I can’t tell you how horrible it is, in God’s eyes. For example, take gluttony of food. There are a lot of good Christian people out there, who are obese, and keep eating, even though they know that it could cause them a heart attack. They are mainly hurting themselves and no one envies them. Then, you have the gays, God has written, in the Bible, that they will not go to heaven. Homosexuality is a bigger sin than eating a lot of food, wouldn’t you say? I mean, say you are taking drugs. I know that is a sin, but say your car is about to be repoed, your house is about to be foreclosed on, and you are having a weak moment because you want to die, don’t you think God understands your pain? He doesn’t condone the sin, but he says that the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. Well, if the homeless saints are first, then those would be the ones fighting with the crack addictions. Do you understand? Child molesters are hurting and scarring other human beings, children. They leave a lot of destruction in their paths and most are homosexual men. Do you think that God is so stupid that he doesn’t know the difference? We try, that is what we do. But some sins really are greater than others, that is a fact.”

I really agree on this because for example: masturbation is a sin, but is definately not as bad as killing someone, so would God have more understanding and flexibility towards someone who masturbates, or a murderer?

Anyone care to argue or say something different? Please share opinions.
@RayJ really? I always thought it was, thats honestly what so much people said. “you’re going to hell if you masturbate”

So this person is using their own personal morals to judge which sin is “worse”.

So why bother with the bible?

Their logic is “if it hurts others it’s worse” and yet they still say the “the gays” are bad. But who are two consenting adult harming? Whereas obese people put a massive strain on their families, medical facilities and consume more resources then others.

Typical theist cherry picking.
