Is This a Good Way to Start My Research Paper?

Question by Emily: Is this a good way to start my research paper?
My research paper is on child abuse, and I was thinking of the first sentence going like, “More than 5 children die per day as a result of child abuse.” I also want my thesis to be either about how CPS lets too many children fall through the cracks or how neglect is just as bad a form of abuse as physical abuse. Which one do you think would work better for this research paper? Thank you!

I think you should go with the second one. It isn’t really CPS’s fault, because they do the best they can to help out all of the kids. That’s just my opinion.
