Oh, I can’t believe this forum obfuscates the word “as*.”

In almost any situation where it’s appropriate to talk about somebody’s as*, the word “as*” is perfectly fine. “As*” is really the very best word to use informally.

You wouldn’t want to use it in formal settings, though. But you have to ask yourself how often you find yourself talking about “as*” in formal settings? The whole topic is pretty much irrelevant and off-limits.

“Butt” is really not as useful a word as “as*”–it’s still not appropriate in formal settings, and in informal settings, it sounds weak.

“Buttocks” gets very specific and refers to the fact that there are two melon-shaped hemispheres separated by a crack. Only use it if you mean to distinguish between the two!

“Behind” is not necessarily inappropriate, but if you’re using it in formal settings, it sounds like you’re a hick, and makes people wonder why you’re bringing up the subject in the first place.

I suppose if you want to talk about the subject formally, “posterior” is a pretty good term. But, again, why are you talking about it in a formal setting? Unless you’re in the medical field, it’s not likely to come up.

In Victorian times, people were worried about this issue. So they used the term “fundament.” It’s hilarious!

“Derriere” is silly and affected.

“Glutes” is OK if you’re speaking in athletic terms.
