Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Drug Counseling And Addiction Recovery – Conejo Equine Assisted Learning uses the principles of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to pair horses with people. This, in turn, is used to overcome the issues, conditions, mental or physical trauma that led the client to drug addiction and substance abuse. Similar to traditional psychological counseling, but relatively new in addiction treatment, Equine Assisted Therapy involves unmounted and mounted horsemanship lessons provided by the therapeutic riding instructor, who is also a licensed mental health professional. In both the riding and the stable setting, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy provides powerful tools for building self-awareness, self-esteem, appropriate boundaries and a sense of personal responsibility.
